Retreats
Retreats offer an opportunity to step away from the usual day-to-day distractions and immerse yourself in mindfulness meditation. They provide a much-needed antidote to the stresses of daily life. Whether you’re new to mindfulness and looking to take your first steps, or you have some prior experience, our retreats are designed to be both calming and revitalising.
Our day retreats are held at Hauxley Wildlife Discovery Centre which is nestled at the northern end of Druridge Bay in Northumberland, offering a stunning setting with a view that overlooks the sea, the reserve’s serene lake, and its beautiful grounds.
Spring Day Retreat
Our next day retreat will be held at Hauxley Wildlife Reserve Centre in Northumberland on Saturday 21st March 2026.
Each retreat begins with a warm welcome and light refreshments, followed by an introduction to the day before we ease into a period of supportive silence. Throughout the session, you will be guided through a series of meditation practices designed to deepen your presence and awareness. Weather permitting, we will also offer an optional mindful walk - a peaceful opportunity to connect with the natural world and the quiet company of others.
The schedule is paced to allow for a morning break and a full hour for lunch, giving you ample time to explore the local surroundings or simply rest within the tranquility of the centre. We conclude our time together with a gentle transition out of silence for reflection and discussion, providing space to share insights and integrate your experience.
Why go on retreat?
Deepen Practice
In our busy lives, meditation often feels like just another "to-do" list item. A retreat offers the rare gift of time to move beyond the surface level of a wandering mind. By engaging in a retreat, you allow your nervous system to settle into a state of profound stillness. This isn't just about relaxation; it is about building inner confidence. When you learn to sit with your thoughts and emotions without judgment, you develop a "mental anchor" that helps you stay grounded even after the retreat ends.
Community Support
Mindfulness can sometimes feel like a solitary pursuit, but there is an incredible, unspoken strength in practicing with others. Being in a "supportive environment" means you don't have to explain yourself or your need for quiet. Sharing a space with like-minded individuals creates a sense of belonging and safety. Even in silence, the collective energy of the group makes it easier to stay present, providing a "social container" that encourages you to stay committed to your practice throughout the day.
Restorative Connection
We live in an age of constant digital "pings" and fragmented attention. Stepping away from technology and immersing yourself in nature acts as a system reset. Without the distraction of screens, your senses sharpen, you begin to notice the rhythm of your breath, the sound of the wind, and the clarity of your own thoughts. This unplugged environment provides the necessary "white space" for you to recharge your energy and reconnect with who you are underneath all your daily roles and responsibilities.
